Orebro

Orebro is located on the flat Närke plains of south central Sweden and surrounded by dense woodlands. The stream Svartån bisects the city before emptying into the lake Hjälmaren, and the name Örebro literary means “bridge over gravel banks”. In the very centre of the city is the impressive Örebro Castle which was constructed on an islet in Svartån during the early 1200s.

Gustavsvik, the largest water park in Scandinavia, is located less than a mile south of central Örebro and attracts over 700 000 visitors per annum. Established in 1938, Gustavsvik today contains an artificial outdoor bathing facility as well as a well equipped indoor pool area with wave machines, water streams and aquariums – all following a tropical jungle theme.

West of Orebro is Tysslingen, a lake famous for hosting thousands of migrating swans each spring and fall. These events attracts birdwatchers and wildlife aficionados from all over Scandinavia.
